About this blog. This blog is primarily a place for me to accumulate information that is of interest to me. You will notice that the subjects are rather random and not really related but perhaps someone besides me will find something of interest. You might wonder why I call the blog “Four Fireflies – a blog about my favorite things.” Since the blog covers a variety of unrelated topics, I picked a generic title for the blog. My favorite number is 4. My favorite season is summer and I especially love warm summer nights in the Ozarks. Whippoorwills, frogs, crickets, owls, and many other creatures make such lovely sounds on summer nights but fireflies or lightning bugs (as we call them in the Ozarks) truly make summer nights magical. I will also admit to being a bit of a geek and the space western series Firefly is one of my all time favorite shows. Thus, the name Four Fireflies.
About me. I am an Assistant Professor of Agriculture & Entrepreneurship and Division Chair of Business, Applied Technology & Public Service. My professional interests include agriculture (in particular Ozarks agriculture), small business, food security, and service learning. My recreational interests include running (mostly as a spectator), genealogy, photography, reading and crocheting.
As a side note about the blog name, it also reminds me of the verse from Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” 🙂
